Data Governance| Political Economy of Data | STS | GIScience | Civic Tech

I obtained my B.S. in Geography and completed my master thesis about the territoriality of data governance at National Taiwan University. I am currently a guest researcher based at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg and also work as policy analyst assistant at the Research Institute for Democracy, Society and Emerging Technology. My research interests lie in the intersection of political economy, economic geography, and science and technology studies, surrounding the political, economic, and social conditions that underpin the circulation of data.

Apart from the main pillar of my research interests, I used to work closely with geospatial scientists and technicians to develop research tools for geospatial analysis and knowledge extraction. I was involved in several projects that launch open-sourced services for digital humanities researchers and environmental scientists.

Outside of my academic life, I regularly participate in internet governance and civic tech communities in Taiwan, where I find alternative ways to contribute to a more resilient digital society. In the recent APNIC conference, I speak out for Taiwan’s digital resilience and indicate threats of war to its internet connection. Moreover, to increase the awareness of digital resilience, I collaborate with public school teachers and the Taiwanese civic tech community, g0v, to design and launch a series of lecture in digital human rights in primary school level.
